Another celebrity now living in Palm Springs, CA...

I was eating brunch this past weekend at Manhattan in the Desert Deli and picked up the "Beverly Hills Courier" by the front counter.  While reading the paper, I came across an article about Lucille Ball's daughter, Lucie Arnaz, being involved in a charity event for Jewish Family Services of the Desert.  It was mentioned in the article that Arnaz and her husband, actor Laurence Luckinbill, had recently moved to Palm Springs.  As a person who makes their living off of all that Palm Springs has to offer, including its celebrity heritage, I wanted to look into this.

According to a February 24 "Desert Sun" article, Lucie and her husband are now full time Palm Springs residents.  The article talks about her mother and father's connection to Palm Springs, her past connection to the city, as well as what she is doing here now that she is a full time resident.  To read more about our most recent celebrity resident, please click here; http://www.desertsun.com/story/life/entertainment/2015/02/23/lucie-arnaz-palm-springs/23910359/

On October 6, 2012, my mom, Harriet Felsher, passed away from lung cancer.  She and I were as close as a mother and son can be.  She was my guardian, my co-pilot and my best friend.

From the day the she was diagnosed in 2009 until that fateful day in 2012, Gilda's Club Desert Cities was there providing support, guidance, community, friendship and love to both her and I.  I remember how much my mom enjoyed going to the group meetings and talking about what she was going thru to others who also had cancer.  I remember how she enjoyed going to their lunches, where a few times I accompanied her and loved how proud she was to introduce me to all of her friends there.  I remember how one of the other members assisted her with making a major decision about switching insurance carriers while she was in the midst of her fight with the disease.  During the last few months of her life, when she needed someone to be with her 24 x 7, and wanted to be at her house, I remember how her close knit group of Gilda's Club friends came together, along with my brother and I, to always be there for her.  They coordinated the shifts, helped find home nursing care when needed, helped find medical equipment and so much more.

In looking back at that difficult time, I can honestly say I have no idea how I would have survived and been able to be there for my mom without Gilda's Club Desert Cities. This organization is amazing and so important to those living with Cancer and their loved ones.  I want to encourage everyone to support this worthy cause.  Speaking of which...
